Children’s Gathering
Children’s Gathering is a class for a small group of homeschooled children one day per week for the school year. It is designed to strengthen the sensorimotor groundwork that supports all later learning while balancing the nervous system for health and wellbeing. Through intentional movement, art, and play, children build the inner and outer capacities needed for focus and joy in learning.
Rooted in The Extra Lesson by Audrey McAllen and drawing from the indications of Rudolf Steiner, this class emphasizes integration of the body. Rather than focusing directly on academia, we will work on the underlying capacities that make learning possible: rhythm, coordination, balance, fine and gross motor skills, and reflex integration. Additionally, each child will receive a developmental screening in order to differentiate the program to meet the children’s needs as well as receiving 5 cranial sacral sessions throughout the year in order to support the integration of the movements. All of this is included in the cost of tuition.
In addition to supporting the children, this class is meant to support parents as well. Parents are warmly enfolded with monthly updates, parent gatherings and education opportunities, a home program, festival life, and conferences to ensure the parent-child relationship stays at the core of your homeschooling experience while helping you feel supported in your role as lead educator in your child’s life.
